2009 THOMASVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE

Instructions, Rules and Regulations

Only groups, organizations, and units who have submitted a signed entry form will be allowed to enter the parade. Entry form due date is Saturday, November 14, 2009 (one week prior to parade). We will post on website www.fairgrovelions.com confirmation of entry and approximate lineup position Wednesday, November 18, 2009. The final lineup will be posted on the website Friday, November 20 and published in the Thomasville Times on Saturday, November 21, 2009 (day of parade).

Parade will be televised live on city government cable channel 13.

The parade will start at 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2009 (rain or shine).

Lineup will begin at 1:00 PM along the eastbound lane of Lexington Avenue. Look for Lions (wearing yellow safety vest) for assistance. Enter Lexington Avenue from 29/70 (hospital exit) if possible to avoid congested areas and the inevitable U-turn. Look for lineup numbers painted on road. Please arrive early to avoid the last minute traffic jam and carpool if possible.

Professional floats will lineup in the Greenwood Baptist Church parking lot. The floats should be in position by 1:00PM to allow sufficient time for decorating. At the end of parade all floats should go to the right under the underpass and unload in the gravel parking lot on Julian Avenue across from TFI Plant C (see enclosed map).

Marching units will assemble at TFI Plant X parking lot on Kenny Avenue. Accompanying motorized entries must assume lineup position on Lexington Avenue. Parents dropping off kids please take Hoover Street—right on Davidson—unload at stop sign—left on Kenny—right on Guilford through town—right on Maple through underpass—right on East Main—park in paved lot across from TFI Showroom. Marchers will not be permitted to turn around at end of parade and walk back up parade route in front of spectators. Marching Units will disassemble in lot across from TFI Showroom (see enclosed map).

Units that perform must keep moving forward in the parade procession while routines are being performed. It is very important that no gaps exist in the parade. Lions will be posted at various points throughout the parade to insure a smooth flowing parade.

All drivers of motorized units watch for Lions wearing yellow safety vest. Follow their signals. At end of parade do not stop at underpass intersection to unload. Follow the direction of the uniformed Thomasville police officers.

All horse entries will unload at TFI Plant A parking lot behind Whistle Stop Restaurant on Hover Street. All trailers must be taken to the far end of the gravel parking lot on Julian Avenue across from TFI Plant C. Horse riders will not he permitted to ride back through town after parade. Accompanying motorized entries must assume lineup position on Lexington Ave. Please stay in lineup position. Ride two abreast in center of road. Horse entries must provide adequate cleanup. Horse entries must submit signed entry forms! A registration table will be setup in Plant A parking lot from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

All units should be identified (signs) and should be decorated with a Christmas theme.

Only one Santa Claus will be allowed in the parade. This Santa will be riding the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce Float at the end of the parade.

In consideration of the acceptance of your entry in the Thomasville Christmas Parade, you, including your employees and family members, release and discharge the Fair Grove Lions from any liability in any activity from participation in the 2009 Thomasville Christmas Parade. You assume all responsibility for damages and or injury to your entry, other entries, spectators or private property, etc..., resulting from your entry.
